Install Uptycs Protect on MacOS by MDMDeployment
This article focuses on the deployment of configuration profiles to install Uptycs Protect using anMDM provider on macOS. Notably, it does not explore the distribution of installation packages. For insights into package distribution, refer to the documentation provided by your MDM provider.
After you have downloaded the profile, follow these steps:
1. Use a user-approved MDM provider for the distribution of this profile, as macOS security restrictions do not allow manual installation.
2. Import the profile into any MDM provider that supports profile import.
3. Alternatively, you can use a profile editor such as iMazing to open the profile.
For assistance with importing, refer to your MDM provider's documentation.
INFO
If you are using a custom osquery install path, you need to edit the profile and change the path for /usr/local/bin/osqueryd to that of your custom osqueryd path before profile deployment.
For best results, distribute the MDM profile before installing Uptycs Protect. This helps prevent potential race conditions that could lead to undesired user authorization prompts.
KNOWN CONFLICTS
● Apple limits installed DNS Proxy extensions to one. If another DNS Proxy is necessary, disable the Protect DNS Proxy (and/or Content Filter) extension through the MDM profile. Note that they are enabled by default.
